The Russian carrier has ranked number one on the list of the most powerful airlines brands on the planet.
Brand Finance – a leading valuation and strategy consultancy has compiled the surprising data, which also ranked the most valuable airlines.
Aeroflot came first, followed by Aeromexico and then American Airlines in third.
China Southern, Delta, Emirates, JetBlue, Southwest, Turkish and WestJet airlines also featured in the top 10.
The Russian airline outshone the biggest carriers in the world to claim its AAA rating.

Contributing factors to Aeroflot’s premier position included its sponsorship of Manchester United and its young fleet.
The carrier was also recognised for its strong investment in marketing, especially in Asia.
Brand Finance said: “The news may come as a surprise to those in Europe and North America more familiar with Western or Gulf flag carriers.
“Aeroflot’s brand strength stems in part from dominance of its domestic market.
“Its brand equity scores for metrics such as familiarity, consideration, preference and loyalty are formidable, both when compared against other Russian airlines and against foreign ones within their home markets.”

Vitaly Saveliev, CEO of Aeroflot, said the accolade was an honour.
Mr Saveliev added: “This recognition reflects not just our 93-year legacy as the No.1 air carrier in the world’s biggest country, but also our best-in-class service offering on domestic and international routes, the youngest fleet of any major carrier globally, and of course our marketing efforts.”
Aeroflot’s safety standards, which are now among the best in the world, have come a long way in the last 50 years.
The Aircraft Crashes Record Office reports that 8,231 passengers have died in Aeroflot crashes, with 721 incidents in 44 years.

But the airline had an overhaul at the turn of the century which saw safety and reliability soar.
The most valuable airline brand was voted as American Airlines, followed by Delta and then United.
Emirates, Southwest, China Southern, China Eastern, Air China, British Airways and ANA rounded out the top 10.
Budget British carrier easyJet came in 19th place on the most valuable list.
