For total relaxation and tranquility, discover Greece with Grecotel
First, stop off at Cape Sounio in Athens where upon arrival you are greeted with an array of refreshing cocktails to choose from as you stand on the terrace and take in the breath-taking views. If you arrive in the evening, the sun setting behind the Temple of Poseidon is a must-see – it is simply beautiful.
Of course, Greece is well-known for its hospitality and Grecotel certainly go above and beyond when they welcome guests. Waiting in your private villa is a bottle of champagne on ice, a large selection of fresh fruits and various desserts to enjoy as you settle in.
Nestled into the hillside, each terracotta villa has a contemporary feel and features Grecian touches throughout, which make you feel as though you have been transported to another world – the worries of work and home will certainly feel very far away.
Once you’ve unpacked, be sure to head to the hotel’s main pool area. Tall, statuesque palm trees surround a large pool with smaller areas for young children to splash around.

You will be welcomed by friendly staff and an array of cocktails to choose from
An area of tranquility, it is the perfect place to lose yourself in a good book or unwind with one of Cape Sounio’s many cocktails. You will not want to move all afternoon.
But if you do manage to pull yourself away in the evening, you won’t regret it. The menu at the Cape Sounio Restaurant will leave you spoilt for choice and wishing you had time to try everything on offer. The grilled Seabass with Topinambur cream, Fava bean puree with Chios Mastic and tarragon sauce is a particular favourite.
The breakfast is just as impressive. Following an early morning dip in your private pool, be sure to head to the main restaurant where you can watch the sun rise as you eat. There are rows of fresh fruit, baked goods and traditional Greek cuisine to choose from.
A short flight away in Corfu, is the exclusive resort of Corfu Imperial, which is hidden away at the north of the island. Again, you will be welcomed with a variety of refreshments in the hotel reception, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area, before being taken to your room.

Nothing can compare to the luxury that awaits you in the sea view villas, which come with their own pool and access to a small, secluded beach – perfect for those who dream of peace and quiet. Each room is ornately decorated with a beautiful backdrop of the Greek countryside hand-painted on the wall behind one of the most comfortable beds you will ever sleep in – you will find it near impossible to drag yourself out of it, even if the sun is shining outside.
For lunch, spend an hour or two in Nafiska, an all day brasserie, where you can enjoy traditional Greek cuisine and spectacular views. On a clear day you can see Albania, which is just across the Adriatic sea. Or if you’d prefer to stay close to the beach, then waterfront restaurant Yali is the best choice. Choose from a range of freshly caught seafood as you enjoy a cold, crisp glass of local wine.
If you aren’t already relaxed, then spend an afternoon at the Elixir Beauty Spa to unwind. Take a dip in the heated pool and take advantage of the sauna and steam room. Or you can choose from one of the many treatments on offer.

Later, treat yourself to an evening of fine dining at the Aristos restaurant or take the short walk to Corfu Imperial’s sister hotel Eva Palace.
Both offer a fabulous selection of mouth-watering dishes that will satisfy all appetites. From Red Mullet and Ionian Grouper Fillet at Aristos to a trilogy of meats – Herbs Crust Lamb, Beef Fillet and Grilled Chicken, served with basil pesto and asparagus risotto – cooked to perfection at Il Melograno, you really will be spoilt for choice.
And be sure to take advantage of the room service for breakfast, which will be delivered to your villa and set up on your terrace. Start the day right with the “Healthy Breakfast”, which consists of a delicious selection of fresh and dried fruit, muesli, Greek yoghurt, bread, honey and Rizogalo (a Greek take on rice pudding), accompanied by fresh fruit juice and a pot of coffee.
Any fans of James Bond or the television series The Durrells, should request a trip to Danilia Village, which is a short drive from the resort. The hotel will arrange transport and a tour of the village, which has been used as the set of the ITV series and For Your Eyes Only film. After, head into Corfu Old Town to explore the fortress and get lost down the many narrow winding streets, which are lined with welcoming souvenir shops.
